Tips and Tricks #2

I've noticed there are a lot of 2 1/2" and 4 1/2" squares in this project.  To cut my squares I found that it was much easier if I used Omnigrid squares like the one pictured here.  For example, I cut a 2 1/2" strip like usual, then I use the little square to cut a perfect square without having to do anything but line it up on three sides.

These are available at most all craft shops.  I recommend going to Joann or Hobby Lobby and using a 40% off coupon!  (You can always find the Hobby Lobby coupons on their website. And you can find  the Joann coupons by googling for them).

Woot! Woot!!  I caught up!  And while my blocks aren't perfect, I don't totally stink at this, which makes me happy!  I think this project is so much fun! :)

Tips and Tricks #1

We are all accumulating blocks that we need to store for some time before we put our whole quilts together.  And we've probably all been wondering, "where can I keep my blocks?!?!"

Marilyn had the great idea to keep hers in a scrapbook paper holder-- they are the perfect size, and you can find them for pretty cheap online or at a nearby craft store.

The one pictured here is available right now on sale from Joanne Fabric for $5.99 .  But there are many choices out there.

Hey Look!  I'm catching up!!  I guess starting this project during the end of the semester wasn't the brightest idea I ever had.  Thank goodness for the summer!  I'm liking this project so far-- it is a bit more difficult and time consuming than I imagined, but not too bad, and so much fun!  Hope you are all liking it too!
