Keeping up with The Happy Quilt Club

Just a little fyi:  If you would like to know when a new post has gone up on the blog, without having to keep checking back, there are two ways to do so:
1) If you are a blogger/blog follower just click "follow" under the "followers" box on the left sidebar and new posts on this blog will show up in your Google Reading List in your Blogger account.

2) If you prefer email, you can enter your email address under "follow by email", also on the left sidebar, and you will get an email whenever there is a new post!

Also, if you would rather post your own updates, let me know and I can add you as an admin.  Otherwise I am more than happy to post what you email or text me!

Arianne's Fabric

Arianne has beat us all and picked out her fabric already!  Check out those cute colors!  It is going to be a mighty fine quilt!

Be sure to email or text me a picture of your fabric once you've picked it out so we can all admire it and get excited!

Fabric!

Isn't buying fabric so much fun?  I'm much better at buying fabric than I am at finishing projects-- hopefully this time will be different!  Above are the suggested fabric yardages for each color (available on the website).  You can use the coloring page to figure out color placement/choice if it is helpful to you. I don't personally care for the fabric selection on this quilt-- but that is the fun part-- you can do whatever you want!!!  Have fun! Try something new!
The finished quilt size with these yardages will be 69 1/2" x 83 1/2". The numbers above do not include the backing.  If you want to buy the backing while you are buying your other fabric you will need 5 yards (according to the quilt calculator).
Be sure to share once you have your fabrics figured out!
(Once you buy your fabric, if you want to cut it out all at once, rather than month-by-month, use this cutting chart to help you).

Nine Patch Nirvana

I found a fun (and free!) Block of the Month quilt pattern at blockcentral.com. It is called Nine Patch Nirvana and I think it looks relatively doable for us beginning quilters (hope I'm not being overly optimistic!).  I'm hoping to learn a thing or two about quilting and piecing blocks as I go along.  I also like the idea of small manageable projects with a whole month to work on them.
So, here's the deal:  pick out your fabrics this month and we'll do the first block in May!  Let us know about your fabric choices and tips and tricks you learn along the way.  And most importantly, finish those blocks up by the end of each month and post a picture here (or send it to me and I'll post it for you) so we can all share our hard work even though we're far apart!  I'm excited!!  :)
